SCIENTIFIC DIRECTOR
Functions of the Scientific Director: The Scientific Director proposes to the Board the necessary actions to achieve the foundation’s objectives, being responsible for executing them with the support of the Manager and other administrative staff of the Foundation.
Profile, academic credentials, and professional background of the current Scientific Director:
Diego Álvarez de la Rosa is a Professor of Physiology at the University of La Laguna, where he also serves as the Director of the University Institute of Biomedical Technologies and coordinates the research group “Pathophysiology of Mineralocorticoids.” After obtaining his PhD in Biological Sciences from the ULL, he worked for six years as a postdoctoral researcher at the Yale University School of Medicine (USA). He later returned to ULL as a researcher in the Ramón y Cajal Program. He is the author of sixty scientific publications in international journals, has supervised eight doctoral theses, and has been the principal investigator of numerous international, national, and regional projects. He is a member of the editorial boards of several international scientific journals and a reviewer of projects for research agencies in various countries.
